BAU Architecture

Research is informed knowledge gained by an in-depth investigation of the world around us. Architectural research develops strategies to integrate human factors with architectural design and invents new technologies to integrate buildings with nature. BAU research considers architecture as a complete human-building ecosystem.

Research is integral to the BAU Architecture project. BAU considers sustainability to be at the nexus of health, energy and technology. BAU research is a synergistic trans-disciplinary collaboration with academia and industry that brings together diverse specialists to establish new relationships between the built environment and health. The BAU objective is to discover innovative materials, to design alternative building assemblies, and to invent smart building systems that promote the health and wellbeing of building occupants while conserving energy. The rigorous BAU research agenda includes funded research projects, professional and academic paper presentations at national and international conferences, peer-reviewed publications, and active participation in speculative design competitions.

Research informs design; design poses questions only research can answer.
